Why Lochran

Abstract black background with white wavy lines creating a pattern.

Lochran comes from the Scottish Gaelic lóchrann, meaning a lantern or guiding light.

A lóchrann is carried.
It moves with you.
It illuminates your surroundings.

That idea sits at the heart of our work.

Lochran Leadership exists to bring clarity to complex leadership moments, tough conversations, important decisions, and tense situations. Our work helps leaders navigate those moments  with judgment, steadiness, support and accountability for their impact.

Founded in 2007 as Jac McNeil Inc., our firm has grown into a broader leadership platform shaped by deep systems thinking, long-term development, and the realities of leading inside complex professional environments.

Meet Our Team

We are a woman-owned and led enterprise. Lochran Leadership is made up of a small, intentionally chosen group of senior executive coaches and leadership advisors who share a common philosophy: human-centered, business-aligned, and outcome-driven. Together, we bring deep sector expertise, advanced credentials, and a disciplined focus on leadership work that delivers measurable impact. This structure enables consistently high-quality delivery across geographies and contexts, while preserving the care, judgment, and precision our clients expect.

You Are Welcome Here

We recognize and celebrate the richness of human diversity. At Lochran Leadership, we stand for equity and belonging, and against the systems and structures that sustain exclusion and inequity in all their forms.

We believe real progress does not come from statements or symbols alone. It requires a sustained willingness to remain in honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversations and to take responsibility for turning awareness into action. In our work, we take seriously the responsibility to use our influence with intention, partnering with leaders and organizations who are committed to reflection, learning, and meaningful change.

Because leadership, and humanity, both ask the same thing of us: do our inner work, use what is in our hands, and help create a world where dignity, equity, and belonging are possible.

We gratefully and respectfully acknowledge that Lochran Leadership is headquartered in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), meaning “Great Harbour,” in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq.

Our Values

Equity & Dignity — We believe difference is strength, and dignity is the baseline.

Integrity, Always — We do what’s right, we own our impact, and we hold ourselves to the same standard we ask of all leaders.

Courageous Self-Awareness — We believe real leadership grows the moment someone is willing to see themselves clearly and lead from that truth.

Capacity-Building — We are committed to revealing capacity and building leadership maturity in others and in ourselves.

Curious, Evolving, Alive — We keep learning on purpose, staying developmentally serious as we help leaders widen perspective and expand what’s possible for themselves and the firm.

Disciplined Clarity — We cut through complexity to what is true and essential, so leaders can align quickly and move with momentum.
